This morning, join us for an optional excursion to Timanfaya National Park. Lanzarote is truly a unique place. Seventy-five percent of the island's surface is covered with craters and lava flows dating back to massive volcanic eruptions 270 years ago. The Fire Mountains in the park possess a singular beauty. At the heart of the stone and rock vineyards in Geria, we'll enjoy a tasting of wine and cheese at one of the oldest bodegas on the island. This afternoon, join us for an optional excursion to learn about Csar Manrique, one of the most important artists in the Canary Islands. Jameos del Agua is the art, culture, and tourism center where his talents can be experienced firsthand. Afterwards, we'll head to the Mirador del Rio to take in the outstanding views of the moon-like landscape. Lastly, we'll visit the Csar Manrique House Museum, an incarnation of his talents. Later, take part in our onboard lecture. When La Belle des Ocans casts off for its cruise through the Canary Islands, our crew will welcome you on the Sun Deck for a cocktail. Enjoy an evening of entertainment. Our ship will cruise to Gran Canaria overnight. | |||||||

Perhaps the prettiest of the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria is an almost circular isle with the peak of Pozo de Las Nieves, its highest point, at the centre. With a wealth of natural beauty and all the exciting attractions of city life in the capital, the island offers the best of both worlds. You will no doubt wish to see the sights of the capital’s old quarter, which dates back to the 15th century and encompassses the Vegueta and Triana districts, and wherever you go you can enjoy the glorious subtropical climate, perfect for growing exotic palms and fruits. Join us for an optional, full-day excursion to discover Gran Canaria (lunch included). We'll begin in Vegueta and the Casa de Colon, a colonial-style mansion with exhibits about the history of the Canary Islands and their link with the New World. We'll continue on to the Bandama Caldera, a volcanic crater that reaches 1,867 feet above sea level (569 m). After a trip through the fabulous countryside, we'll arrive in the village of Tejeda. Next stop: Teror, which welcomes religious pilgrims year round as its basilica houses the statue of the patron saint of the island, the Virgen del Pino. Afterwards, we'll head to Arucas, one of the most beautiful cities in Gran Canaria. Our ship will cruise to La Gomera. Join us for an evening of dinner and dancing. Join us for an optional, full-day excursion to La Gomera (lunch included). We'll visit Garajonay National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site offering a striking contrast to the rest of the archipelago. We'll stop for a superb, typical island lunch and listen to a demonstration of Silbo Gomero, the whistled language used by the islanders. We'll re-enter Garajonay National Park to see the Roque Agando rock formation. Later, there will be a lecture in the lounge. Our ship will cruise to La Palma. Also known as ‘La Isla Bonita’ (the beautiful island), La Palma is typified by lush forests of pine, laurel and fern which contrast with the rugged splendour of the gigantic Taburiente crater. The island is dotted with attractive villages, which are a delight to discover, and the capital Santa Cruz also makes for an interesting day of exploration. Perched on the edge of the volcanic crater of La Caldereta, Santa Cruz comfortably blends modern architecture with old colonial buildings. Perhaps visit the fascinating Natural History Museum, stroll around the historic quarters and the Plaza de Espana or travel a few miles outside the city to the exquisite Church of Our Lady. If you enjoy shopping, you can find reasonably priced silver jewellery, leather goods and beautifully embroidered clothes, tablecloths and napkins, a speciality of the Canary Islands. We'll spend the morning sailing. In the afternoon, feel free to join us for an optional excursion to the heart of the island. Visit the National Park of La Caldera de Taburiente, in the heart of La Palma, and enjoy spectacular vistas. Sit back and relax, as you embark on a scenic drive to Santuario Virgen de Las Nieves. Inside the small whitewashed church, you'll find the island's most sacred icon, the Virgin Mary of the Snows, the patron saint of the island. Travelling through the mountain roads, which offer spectacular views, you'll arrive at La Caldera de Taburiente. Located within the National Park, the 5 mile wide volcanic reach up to the mountain ridge that runs from the north to the south of the island. The formed as a result of volcanic activity, but from subsequent erosion, and it is forested with the exceptional fire- crater was not actually resistant Canary Pine. We will have time to stop and see the new Volcano on the way back. Next, it's time to sample some local refreshments in a traditional 17th century farm, set in beautiful gardens with breathtaking views. On the way back, a brief photo stop will be made at the viewpoint Mirador de la Concepcion where you can admire the stunning views along the coast and to the north of the island. La Palma is known for having one of the most beautiful nighttime skies. At nightfall, we'll leave by coach for the Pilar Observation Point at 3,280 feet in altitude (1,000 m), where a specialist will reveal all of the celestial secrets above us. We'll set off on an optional tour of El Hierro. Our first stop will be the Mirador de Jinama to take in the splendid view of the El Golfo Valley. We'll continue our tour through the lush, tropical valleylined with pineapple, banana, mango, and papaya orchards before arriving at the ecomuseum, where you can learn more about the island's giant lizard. Our last stop will be the Mirador de la Pea, where you'll enjoy a tasting of wine and tapas while taking in the glorious views. This afternoon, we'll begin to cruise towards Tenerife. Lecture onboard. In celebration of our last cruise through the Canary Islands, join our crew on the Sun Deck for a cocktail together. Tonight is our festive gala evening. | |||||||

The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is a beautiful and scenic island which enjoys year-round sunshine and is dominated by Mount Teide. The mountain range runs through the centre of the island, with fertile valleys on the northern side. In the central part of the range is the gigantic natural crater of the Cañadas del Teide, about 14 miles in diameter. Santa Cruz, the island’s pretty capital, was originally a small fishing village but has now grown into a modern city, and also contains 16th-century civic buildings and ornate private mansions. Near the pier is the Santa Cruz Palmetum, a Botanical Garden covering an area of 29 acres, specialising in palms. This morning, join us for an optional excursion to Teide National Park. Created in 1954, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The last time the volcano erupted was in 1909. You'll experience an astonishing view from the top of the crater, and you will be able to stroll around a bit to experience it all from different angles. This afternoon, we'll set off on an optional visit to Puerto de la Cruz and meander down the charming streets lined with gardens, beautiful homes, and quaint churches. We'll stop at the Mirador de Humbolt, a lookout point with sweeping views of the Orotava Valley and its banana plantations before visiting the Orchid Garden Sitio Litre. For the last evening on board, enjoy the show of traditional songs in the Salon and Bar. | |||||||
