11th11 | OctOct | 202020 | Curú Wildlife Refuge, Costa Rica
Located on the southeast tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, the Curu Wildlife Refuge is known for its pristine, white-sand beaches and impressive variety of species ranging from monkeys to sand crabs. In total the refuge covers 3,707 total acres and 656 feet of coastline. Travelers to the Curu Wildlife Refuge will quickly notice that they are in the minority at the site, with only a few people in the area among the abundance of animals and sea creatures. All of your senses will be captivated by this overwhelming amount of wildlife at the reserve, which offers some of the best eco-tourism in Costa Rica. Curu officially received support from the Costa Rican government to protect its wildlife in 1981 and the area officially became known as the Curu Wildlife Refuge in 1983. Today, the refuge is privately owned, extremely-well cared for and even more exclusive than many of the national parks in the country. If you're looking to participate in some of the vast eco-tourism opportunities in Costa Rica, the refuge should be a top priority because of its exclusivity and the ability of visitors to personally interact with the diverse animal population. The refuge also features 17 peaceful trails, where travellers can check out this abundant wildlife in a number of different ecosystems, including mangrove swamps and both dry and wet tropical forests. This morning, you awake in a tropical paradise, Isla Tortugas. Remote and pristine, it will ease you gently into your Costa Rica adventure. On arrival to Curú National Park, visit the Curú Wildlife Refuge. Be introduced to a variety of wildlife that thrives here, including up to 200 species of birds, capuchin and howler monkeys as well as sloths and anteaters.
12th12 | OctOct | 202020 | Quepos (Puerto Quepos), Costa Rica
Quepos allows tourists to experience a once in a lifetime nature experience in Manuel Antonio National Park without leaving any of the familiar amenities behind. The close proximity of the park, located just 4.3 miles (7 km) to the south, and a wide array of services makes Quepos the perfect place to visit for those who wish to explore this enchanting area. The amenities available include everything from banks, restaurants, hotels, gift shops, bakeries, bars, a hospital, supermarket and even a post office. The area was once dependent on banana plantations which used to line the surrounding area. After disease infiltrated the harvest, interest transferred to African Palms as the prominent crop. Now, tourism has deemed itself the major economic factor, contributing to just about everything in the area. Quepos lures in many tourists for its fantastic sport fishing. In fact, some have come solely to participate in this world class experience and have never left, but besides sport fishing, many other activities are available. Exploring this maze of wetlands by boat is amazing but not the only way to see crocodiles, monkeys, herons, raccoons and more. This small paradise has the perfect balance between nature and the comfort and facilities someone might need. Whether a wildlife lover, thrill seeker or budding chef, today we have an array of activities that will suit you. Freechoice: Take a boat ride through the mangroves and learn about this a unique and fragile ecosystem, or join a guide through the trails of the Extravaganza Rainforest. Experience a fun and informative tour of local cuisine, or if you would like some adventure, fly through the tree tops of the Titi Canopy or have surf lessons in Manuel Antonio Beach.

14th14 | OctOct | 202020 | Darién National Park, Panama
"The remote Darien Jungle has one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in the world. It is also one of the world’s top ten birding sites, with the colourful Crimson-collared Tanager, Chestnut-fronted Macaws, and Snow-bellied Hummingbirds found here. Mammals include tapirs and Black-headed Spider Monkeys. In this roadless stretch of forest, rivers provide the best access. Visitors to the Darien Jungle are rare with fewer than 1,000 tourists visiting each year. The Embera are one of several indigenous groups that live here in relative isolation offering ornate handcrafted baskets and carvings for sale in their traditional villages." Darién National Park is one of the most important UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites in Central America and is only accessible by water on a small ship. A natural bridge spanning the two Americas, it houses a myriad of habitats, ranging from rocky coastlines and sandy beaches to mangroves. It is one of the few remaining examples in the world of a protected area inhabited by humans.
15th15 | OctOct | 202020 | Utría National Park, Colombia
The Utria National Park, located on Colombia’s Pacific Coast, is set in one of the most beautiful and unique natural settings of the country. It is a natural landmark of Colombia with striking thick rainforest, endless beaches, lush mangroves and steep mountains. During the breeding season, humpback whales raise their new-borns in the coastal waters. The park is a biodiversity “hot spot”, with a huge diversity of wildlife including monkeys, frogs, and more than 400 species of birds. Sitting on Colombia's Pacific coast is the lush tract of Utría National Park. From coral reefs and mangroves in the marine realm, to tropical rainforest and rocky beaches where sea turtles come to lay their eggs, few places in the world encompass the diversity of Utría's ecosystems. 17th17 | OctOct | 202020 | Isla de la Plata, Ecuador
Isla de la Plata translates to ‘Island of Silver’, and the name was derived from the legend of swashbuckling pirate Sir Francis Drake’s buried silver treasure. The popular legend states that in the 16th century, hundreds of tons of silver and gold were never fully recovered and are still hidden on the island. The island was privately owned until 1979, when it was declared part of Ecuador’s Machalilla National Park. Best known for its fauna, which is amazingly similar to that of the Galapagos Islands, Isla de la Plata is a delightful place for birding, photography and long nature walks. Although just south of the equator, the influences of the colder Humboldt Current bring nutrient-rich water as far north as Isla de la Plata. Isla de la Plata is a small island off Ecuador's central coast. Part of Machalilla National Park, the uninhabited island features beaches, headlands and shrub land. It's known for its many marine birds, like the blue-footed and masked boobies..

Isla Guanape is located in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of La Libertad, Peru. Two main islands, North and South Guañape, along with several small islets constitute a biological reserve for seabirds. In 2009, the National Wildlife Refuge System of Peru officially protected the islands. The rugged, rocky, and dry island group is uninhabited by people, but is home not only to large colonies of South American sea lions, but to hundreds of thousands of seabirds.
