Cruise through Portugal in style aboard AmaSintra, our newest ship on the Douro River. The majority of the ship’s 51 staterooms feature floor-to-ceiling views, allowing you to witness the terraced vineyards and rolling hills along the river from the comfort of your private accommodations. Each stateroom is elegantly appointed with marble bathrooms, carved wood accents, plush beds and modern amenities including climate control, a safe, an entertainment system and complimentary Wi-Fi. The ship’s spacious public areas are adorned with vibrant Portuguese ceramics, while the Sun Deck invites you to relax in the pool or on a comfortable lounge chair. Ship’s Crew: The entire amount will be divided equally amongst all crew members. Recommendation: 100 Euros per week, per guest.

Cruise Manager: Your Cruise Manager is not part of the ship’s crew and is the AmaWaterways representative who also accompanies you on any pre- and/or post-cruise hotel/land extensions you may have booked. Recommendation: 30 Euros per week, per guest; 4 Euros for each additional day, per guest for pre- and post-cruise hotel/land extensions.

Every feature in an AmaWaterways stateroom was thoughtfully conceived with the comfort of their guests in mind. The staterooms start at 160 square feet, and suites can be as large as 350 square feet, giving you more space to sit back and relax in between meals and explorations. Artfully crafted to a first-class standard, each room is equipped with innovative designs, plush bedding, multi-jet shower-heads, and many other special touches that make you feel like you’re getting the royal treatment. Most of the staterooms have a balcony — or two — so you can enjoy stunning views of the magnificent sights along the river’s edge.

From historic city tours to guided hikes, exhilarating bike rides and tastings of local specialties, every tour is led by a knowledgeable local guide, is operated in a small group and is offered with our compliments.

Three Activity Levels

Some guests wish to journey further and move at a quicker pace during their excursions while others prefer more time to take photos or require frequent rests. To ensure every guest may explore at their own comfort level, we offer our tours at three distinct activity levels, ensuring even our most “gentle walkers” are not left behind – because why settle for anything less than perfect on your long-awaited vacation?

Inclusive and Accommodating

Our convenient Quietvox audio devices ensure you can hear your tour guide clearly amidst the hustle and bustle of cities and at the volume most comfortable for you. We also offer a limited number of Nordic walking sticks and sport seats for guests who need extra support or periodic breaks.

Part of the draw of traveling to new destinations is immersing yourself in authentic local culture. We are happy to bring evening entertainment on board that includes musicians, folkloric dancers and storytellers who live and work in the cities we cruise to and are happy to share their cultural traditions and talents with you. Whether it’s traditional Bavarian music, a local quartet or contemporary piano favorites played by our resident musician, you will enjoy an eclectic schedule of onboard entertainment every night.
