Breisach is a town located in Southwest Germany on the French border. The town is situated in the Rhine Valley on the banks of the river Rhine and dates back over four thousand years. Breisach and its history can be experienced through the City History Museum, which houses a permanent exhibition taking you from Stone Age through the Celtic, to the Romans and Middle Ages, right up to modern day. St Stephen's Cathedral is home to the city’s famous art treasures, the wheel wells, which are housed in the neighbouring Radbrunnenturm with the forty one metre deep water well. The cathedral is also home to many other treasures including the High Altar of Master HL and wall paintings by Martin Schongauer as well as High Gothic and Roman architecture. A visit to the Blue House, the former Jewish Community Centre, is highly recommended. Now owned by the Friends of Former Jewish Community House Breisach it exhibits memorials to Breisach’s Jewish heritage. Well arrive in Breisach in the early morning. Included excursion: Guided tour of Colmar. Colmar is a colorful city bursting with Alsatian charm. You'll discover the picturesque district known as "Little Venice," with its romantic canals and cobblestone streets; the majestic, Gothic-style Saint Martins Church; and the remarkable Maison des Ttes, built at the beginning of the 17th centurynamed as such for the 111 heads decorating the outside. We'll return on board the ship. Well spend the afternoon cruising to Basel. Enjoy an evening of dancing. |

Visit the Augusta Raurica, one of the largest Roman archaeology parks in Switzerland, and enjoy a river crossings over the River Rhine by non-motorised ferries. During the summer months, time is spent outdoors, either swimming in the River Rhine, dining al fresco, enjoying open air concerts, cinema, street parties and festivals. Todays excursion is aboard the Glacier Express. Departure by coach from Basel to board the most famous train in the world which takes you on a panoramic trip through the Alps, from Andermatt to Chur. For much of its journey, the train travels on a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway, taking you to the most jaw-dropping places in the heart of Switzerland. With unspoiled mountains rising majestically towards the sky, you'll discover the breathtakingly beautiful and idyllic scenery that only this unique and unforgettable route can offer. This excursion alone is a picture postcard of Switzerland. We'll have lunch aboard the train or at a restaurant (depending on availability). We'll return by coach to Basel.(3) |

We'll set out for the island of Mainau in Lake Constance. A perfect harmony reigns on Mainau. Explore the parks and gardens using all your senses, and you'll soon see why it has become one of the most famous tourist spots in Germany. We'll have lunch on the island. After our day, well return on board the ship in Breisach. Join us for our festive gala evening. The ship will begin to cruise to Strasbourg. |
