There is something ashore for everyone. Each port offers a unique experience where you can explore on your own, book an organized shore excursion, go shopping, relax on the beach or take in some historical sites.
Do I have to get off the ship at every port of call
You are more than welcome to stay on the ship and relax by the pool or participate in some of the organized activities onboard.
How likely is it to get empty cabins at a discount just before the cruise departs?
It is not very likely. in fact, this is one of the most common misconceptions about cruising which also applies to air travel. Cruises generally go full, as cruise lines have a pretty good idea of what should get sold and when. We recommend you liaising with expert sellers to advise you on best deals in advance, which leaves you extra time to prepare well and have a better experience!
What are the favourite cruise lines?
This one is difficult to answer as each cruise line caters for different tastes and groups of people. In the UK, P&O Cruises is probably the most popular cruise line. However, each line offers a wide range of packages that adjust to your needs and preferences. This is why it is so important to have a personalised service when booking your cruise, especially when you are starting out.
Is it better a river or an ocean cruise for first-time cruise passengers?
This is ultimately going to depend on the person. As you can expect, the sea can get really choppy and rivers are more gentle, so your tolerance to these eventualities will be up to you!
Is it worth buying drinks packages?
If you drink enough, then yes! MSC have amazing drinks packages starting from £20 a day. You also have non-alcoholic drink packages which are more affordable and can be great options considering you enjoy fizzy drinks. A common misconception is that you need to drink a lot, and you don't have to in order to get good value for your money. At the end of the day, you decide what you consider good value for you. |
