Formed by a volcanic eruption, Madeira lies in the Gulf Stream, about 500 miles due west of Casablanca. Discovered by Portuguese explorer João Gonçalves Zarco in 1419, this beautiful island became part of Portugal’s vast empire and was named for the dense forest which cloaked it - 'Madeira' means 'wood' in Portuguese. Sugar plantations first brought wealth here, and when King Charles II of England granted an exclusive franchise to sell wine to England and its colonies, many British emigrants were drawn to the capital, Funchal. Today’s travellers come to Madeira for the varied and luxuriant scenery, from mountain slopes covered with vines to picturesque villages and a profusion of wild flowers. The natural beauty of the island has earned it many pseudonyms such as ‘The Floating Garden of the Atlantic’, 'The Island of Eternal Springtime' and ‘God’s Botanical Gardens’ and our selection of excursions aim to show you why.

Also known as ‘La Isla Bonita’ (the beautiful island), La Palma is typified by lush forests of pine, laurel and fern which contrast with the rugged splendour of the gigantic Taburiente crater. The island is dotted with attractive villages, which are a delight to discover, and the capital Santa Cruz also makes for an interesting day of exploration. Perched on the edge of the volcanic crater of La Caldereta, Santa Cruz comfortably blends modern architecture with old colonial buildings. Perhaps visit the fascinating Natural History Museum, stroll around the historic quarters and the Plaza de Espana or travel a few miles outside the city to the exquisite Church of Our Lady. If you enjoy shopping, you can find reasonably priced silver jewellery, leather goods and beautifully embroidered clothes, tablecloths and napkins, a speciality of the Canary Islands.

The second-largest of the Canaries after Tenerife, Fuerteventura is geologically the oldest of all the islands in the archipelago. It has the longest coastline and is blessed with gentle valleys and sweeping plains. Near the capital, Puerto del Rosario, there are lovely beaches, and other beaches in the north and south of the island can be compared with the best in the world. Among the features of the island are its windmills, dotted around the landscape - evidence of the island's traditional agriculture. Puerto del Rosario, the capital, is on the east coast and was originally a watering-hole used by local farmers for their goats. In the early 19th century, Maria Estrada opened a tavern here, which paved the way for the development of the port. It has been the island’s capital since 1860. Among its attractions are the old harbour area, with its narrow alleyways lined with picturesque Canarian-style houses, and the Church of Nuestra Senora del Rosario.

Java coffee bar has an almost dual personality. Its comfortable seating and sofas set a relaxing atmosphere during the day, serving speciality teas and coffees, as well as savoury snacks and indulgent cakes. It's also the perfect place to bring your laptop and do a little surfing. In the evenings, Java magically transforms into the perfect venue for pre-dinner drinks, thanks in no small part to its location at the heart of Azura adjacent to the Atrium's dance floor.

Meridian Restaurant

Like to escape the usual routine on holiday? Then you’ll love the flexibility of Freedom Dining at the Meridian Restaurant. Opt for an early dinner one night and a late supper the next; you can shape each day as you please.

With Freedom Dining you'll still enjoy the special ambience and sociable atmosphere of a main dining room, with a five-course menu (six-course on Gala Nights). The difference from Club Dining is that this option allows you the flexibility to turn up at selected restaurants anytime you choose between 6pm and 9.30pm, with whom you like, and every effort will be made to accommodate you. Freedom Dining is included in your fare when you book a Select Price.

Poolside Snacks

Peckish by the pool? All that swimming and lounging can be hungry work, but there's plenty of pool side snacks to choose from...

Poolside grill - Enjoy self-service burgers, hot dogs, chicken, chips and salads.

Sindhu will showcase an elegant fusion of Indian and British cuisine featuring sublime flavours. The Soft Shell Crab and Squid Salad is sure to be a favourite. The Epicurean

A sense of occasion is permanently on the menu at The Epicurean. Here you will find a selection of much loved classic dishes. It's all about taking the finest British ingredients - fresh, seasonal and all thoughtfully sourced by our team of Executive Chefs - and presenting them with great skill to achieve maximum flavour. Expect the finest cuts of organically-reared meat, and the best seafood and fish British shores have to offer.

The Glass House

If you enjoy a glass of wine with your meal you'll want to visit to The Glass House.

On the venue's signature menu, every course will come with the option of a different glass of wine, expertly matched by our expert, Olly Smith. With a handsomely stocked wine cellar and mouth-watering daytime and evening menus, The Glass House will be a relaxed, informal haven of good food and fine wine. What's more, selected bottles will be available by the glass, so there's no need to order the whole bottle to sample a particular vintage.

The Oriental Restaurant

Take your seat in the Oriental Restaurant- Choose a particular Club Dining seating and you’ll dine at the same time and table each night and enjoy the same company. It’s the way many a friendship has been made on board.

A Classic London inspired pub with a contemporary twist. With its intimate atmosphere, stylish design and great selection of beers and ales, Brodie's will win plenty of fans. It's the perfect place to listen to live music, watch sport on the plasma screens, have a game of pool or darts, or simply share a drink and a story with friends.

Monte Carlo Casino

The Monte Carlo Casino it a great place to continue a fun night out after post dinner drinks or a show. It is adorned with purple leather chairs around felt gaming tables, giving the casino a sumptuous, glamorous feel. In addition to the two roulette tables and three blackjack tables, passengers will find over 50 slot machines.

Malabar

The exotic vibe of Malabar is inspired by the contemporary hotels on Marine Drive, Mumbai. It's a blend of modern Indian sophistication. When you arrive your eyes are greeted with sumptuous fabrics, gold leaf on the ceiling and a smiling waiter to take your order. By the time the evening's entertainment begins, you can be sure it's always different. With piano recitals, cabaret, bands and dancing, it's the perfect place to while away the perfect evening.

Manhattan

The Playhouse

As soon as you enter Azura's 800 seat, two tier theatre immediately your expectations begin to build. And rightly so. With multiple performances on selected nights, you can plan your evening however you like. Catch a show before dinner or enjoy one after. With cabaret performances, stand-up comedy, interactive game shows, quizzes, aerial flying acrobatics and talent shows, it's sure to be an evening to remember.

SeaScreen Open Air Cinema

Imagine watching a film under a starry, night sky, while being magically transported to another new destination. SeaScreen is one of the most exciting features on board Azura because it's more than just a pool – it's an open-air cinema. The giant screen sitting proudly above the beautifully designed pool area shows a variety of classic films, family favourites and all the latest blockbusters.

The Reef

The Reef children’s club caters for all ages, combining fun with education and a whole host of activities organized daily by qualified Reef Rangers. Split into four age groups, children of all ages are entertained safely throughout the day and evening and to ensure that they have the chance to make friends of their own age.

Night Nursery

The Night Nursery is a complimentary service available for children aged between 6 months and 4 years of age, and is open from 6pm to 2am nightly. The latest time children may be checked in to the Night Nursery is 11pm. A quiet area is created to enable an infant to sleep and parents are contacted via a pager, should their infant wake. Room temperatures and frequent checks are made and recorded.
